I have always given more than expected. I geve 100% of the money I recieved in income from the hospital back towards investment in research. The problem is I need to meet my basic needs in order to be able to continuing functioning at such a high level. I was giving so much that everyone just assumed I would work for free and not be paid, and I simply did not have the resources I needed to continue to do this. How do I manage this situation effectively so that I can participate in the fruit of my labor?????

This is so true! I have been unemployed now four months and I found a way to use my business skills to start writing business plans and helping small business owners. No, I’m not making a living at it, yet. But, I still have interviews for my analyst work and know that will happen and pay for me someday soon. But, day to day, my giving of my time or skills to forward some progress for others improves my own life and makes this time not being paid so much more rewarding than being paid! I no longer sit around wallowing in grief and worrying about whether my next month’s rent payment will bounce! I just keep plugging away on all cylindars of which the focus is not my own needs! And I agree that if more unemployed just got out and helped others with whatever talents or skills they have, the job opportunities would come their way. I tried to help others, but instead of being appreciative they became exploitive to the point of hurting me so that I was no longer able to help at the same level. I am naturally a giver, but how do I deal with takers????

I’m a firm believer that feelings are contagious. I’ve been suffering fr4om depression for years and i’ve seen that when i’m around others that have a positive outlook on life and smile and are friendly it tends to make me feel alot better . And when i focuss my attention on a good positive book or log in to a website with positive material it tends to make me feel alot beeter as well .I hope i can be a positive influence on someone as myself in the future

Hello,

I was reading your essay , which
is very skillful, like the the
lawyer is writing a brief….
I am also a lawyer, global and
very international.
Unfurtunatelly, we have to speak
english or other languages perfectly, not like a mathematician or artist which are
speaking a very international languages like Leonardo da Vinci.
But we are the lawyers not artist.
You know, I came to this country
25 years ago, previously I was a
corporate lawyer in Europe….after learn English I went to Hastings law school to get some ideas about US. law.
I never got the job in big law firms due to European accents.
But mostly I missed only one big
think:NOT
MONEY,BUT THE CHRISTMAS PARTIES
IN THE BIG FIRMS!
Well,I would like to talk to you
guys about some oppotunities
if my age is not a disadvantage.
I am in 60 but I am still working
as international business consultant. Of course no such thnik
is a retirement even Jerry Brown
with 73 was fighting for the Job
for Governer of California and
he got this job!!

Most supervisors are stupid. But they are cunning and sly, and bear considerable watching.

Supervisors are drunk on their own power, and don’t give a rat’s ass about the company, only their own “bed”. As long as they are in charge, they will do what they damn well please and to hell with the firm and the employees.
