But it is also important to speak up when it might not be popular about important issues. We need all the new ideas we can get and squelching dissent is counter-productive. There are ways to do it with aplomb, using sel-depracating humor, for example, but nonetheless, it is important to create a culture of openmindedness to encourage new solutions. It is important to “play well with others” – and your examples are rather extreme. But it is also important to speak up when it might not be popular about important issues.
