I'm not in the legal profession. I was out of work for 12 months when my cousin, a senior QA Director at a major worldwide electronics firm, informed me of a senior level opening in their marketing department. He forwarded my resume to the HR dept and the hiring VP. In short, I was hired and couldn't be happier. Perhaps it's different in my case as my cousin and I rarely cross paths, working in different disciplines...and buildings. For me, this couldn't have worked out better.

Hi,

I totally agree with you. We should use our own strength in finding a job. Relying upon friends and relative make me feel inferior and cause me many nasty comments form the colleagues.

regards

I wish I knew you a decade or more ago and had your advice before my husband and his family talked me into walking away from my senior position at a NY law firm where I would have been up for partnership in another year or so, to go to work for his very wealthy family in another city. I wish also, I had the guts to share the details, but I don't. To say that it was a mistake, would be an understatement of a lifetime, my lifetime. I continue to learn, even now. Thank you.
