My job,as a manager for law firms has been eliminated 3 times--the first firm went bankrupt, the second firm had a decrease in busines and the third firm was cutting expenses. My husband, a computer software engineer, went without work as a contractor for more than a year during this recent downturn. We have both been in the workforce for over 40 years and have no plans to retire. We are starting over when many of our cohorts are retiring or have been retired for several years!
