This is an interesting concept. I would be curious to know where the pessimism begins for most attorneys. I think that law students tend to be a very optimistic group of people. 1Ls are told that only 10% of people will be at the top of the class by the end of the year. Anything else is statistically impossible when there's a curve. Yet, most, if not all law students think that they will be in the top 10% of their respective classes. Even after 1L, many law students remain very optimistic about their future prospects. At what point does the pessimism and complacency set in?

With that said, I appreciate the call to optimism, but I think we should take a balanced approach. Sometimes, the place you work/your co-workers are simply miserable and the best thing to do is leave. What if you are working in an environment where 5 of your 6 co-workers leave in the span of 3 years? Your new boss has less experience than you do but is politically connected, and although you get a raise, your job consists of covering your boss's shortcomings? It's not always the case but sometimes you just have to "know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em."
