Harrison,

I agree with the points you make. It all goes back to having a good work ethic and pride in one's performance and work product.

The one thing that I think ought to be addressed here or in another article is that because folks who work this well are not the norm at many firms, they often come under fire from co-workers who may fear looking bad by comparison. Law firms are ripe with this kind of jealousy, and partners are too often removed from this level of play to see the problem or are more interested in having everyone get along, much to the detriment of the star performer.

So, maybe the lesson here ought to be: Perform well, but not any better than those with whom you work, or you'll be toast.

That's deep. Harrison I like the way you interweave lessons with a story.

In my opinion, you are too much of a "gratuitous interloper" who keeps e-mailing attorneys in the hope that they take your silliness seriously.
Please leave me alone.
Sincerely,
The Legendary Danny O'Doul

I'm impressed by your blogs. I printed out a few and will give them to my boys to read and discuss. They are 10 and 12 years old. Your advice is better than I can articulate. Thanks. I especially like the one about tafget audiences and seizing audiences. (The pictures are a little strange, though.)
